Article 27-1. HOUSING MAINTENANCE AND OCCUPANCY CODE |
§ 27-1-3. Rooming House Permit Required—Rooming Houses, Hotels, Motels.
A person shall not operate a rooming house, hotel or motel unless that person holds a valid rooming house permit issued by the Code Administrator with the operator's name and the specific property therein identified. The operator shall apply to the Code Administrator or his designee upon compliance by the operator with all applicable provisions of this Article. The permit shall be displayed in a conspicuous place within the rooming house, hotel or motel at all times. A permit is not transferable. A permit holder shall give written notice to the Code Administrator within five (5) working days after having given up or transferred ownership or control of any rooming house, hotel or motel. Such notice shall include the name and address of the person succeeding to ownership or control of the housing facility. Every rooming house permit shall expire on the first day of July of each year unless sooner suspended or revoked by the Code Administrator for failure to maintain compliance with this Article.
