§ 19-1-5. Towing Vehicles Away.

  • The Police Department is authorized to remove and tow away or have removed and towed away by commercial towing service, any abandoned vehicle, or other vehicle illegally parked in a place where it creates or constitutes a hazard for vehicular, pedestrian, or bicycle traffic, or otherwise obstructs, or may obstruct, said traffic, blocks the use of a fire hydrant, is in violation of a winter emergency restriction, or is parked in violation of any ordinance during a winter parking ban, maintenance parking ban, or emergency parking ban declared under the provisions of Section 18-1-22, or obstructs or may obstruct snow removal, or the movement of any emergency vehicle. Vehicles in violation of this Section shall be ticketed and subsequently towed and stored in a safe place, and shall be restored to the owner or operator upon payment of all fines and penalties for violating this Section as well as fees for towing and storage associated therewith.
