§ 17-1-5. Traffic Movements.

  • (a)

    Stop. When required, means complete cessation of movement.

    (b)

    Stop or Stopping. When prohibited, means any stopping of a vehicle except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the direction of a police officer or traffic control sign or signal.

    (c)

    Standing. Any stopped vehicle, whether occupied or not.

    (d)

    Park. The standing of a vehicle, whether occupied or not, otherwise than temporarily for the purpose of and while actually engaged in loading or unloading.

    (e)

    U-Turn. The turning of a vehicle from its original direction to the opposite direction; the turning from one side of the street to the other for the purpose of parking.

    (f)

    Yield Right-Of-Way. When required, means slowing down, stopping if necessary, to allow vehicles using street being approached to have the right-of-way.
