§ 15-14-3. Registration of Solicitors—Requirements.

  • A person required by Section 15-14-1 to register with the Licensing Officer shall register by completing the solicitor's registration form furnished by the City and shall provide proof of age, address and identification, of the applicant by providing the applicant's driver's license or other legally recognized form of identification. The application form shall require the following information:

    (1)

    The registrant's employer's name, address, and telephone number;

    (2)

    A description of the goods, merchandise, wares, or books to be sold;

    (3)

    The proposed method of operation in the city.

    A certificate of registration shall be issued by the Licensing Officer within five (5) business days upon completion of the application. The certificate of registration must be carried upon the person of the solicitor while soliciting and displayed to a police officer on demand. The form of identification that was used to register shall also be carried upon the person of the solicitor and displayed to a police officer on demand. Failure to possess either the certificate of registration or the form of identification used to register with the City during solicitation activities shall be considered a violation of this Article.

    A certificate of registration shall expire thirty (30) days from the date issued but may be renewed by presenting the certificate to the Licensing Officer who may either endorse the certificate to indicate renewal or issue a new certificate.
